The event was so successful that we had people running amok complaining of being hit by a solar flare!  The competition was held on Wednesday, 18 August, 2004, at the Frank McEllister Park on the Araluen grounds in Alice Springs.  Scrutineering was from 9 AM to 12:30 PM and the racing began directly thereafter.  It was a bright and sunny day (as always in Alice Springs... hint hint for having the National event here next year) and after rectifying a few glitches with the track and a bit of last minute tweaks by some of the teams, they were off!  The top four teams in the car event and the top two teams in the boat event received plane tickets for competing in the national championship event in Perth in November!  Below you'll see the final results of our event, but keep in mind that while some cars and boats didn't make it as far as others, everyone was a winner by accomplishing the amazing feat of getting something built!  We hope to see them and many more out here next year for SUNCHASE 2005!
